Dr. Priscilla Ray was born in Texas, went to Vassar College in New York and returned to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, where she now lives.
She has been in the private practice of Psychiatry and on the clinical faculty of Baylor, where she is a Clinical Professor, for over thirty years. 
Dr. Ray is currently the Director of Psychiatry for Methodist Hospital.

Secretary-Treasurer of the Texas Medical Association.  

Dr Ray has also held the following positions:
President of the Harris County Medical Society, the largest county medical society in the country. 
President of the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.  Immediate chairman of the Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs, which is charged with writing ethics policy for AMA physicians, including their opinion on ethical issues facing concierge physicians.
